It tells you about your body and then gives you a lot of exercises to do, along with a 6 week program to use and a section that tells you how to keep going after that 6 weeks is up. I like that it included a section of facts and myths, the muscular system, and know about strength training. There is a lot of information but it also provides images to pinpoint certain parts of the body for a better understanding. I also liked that it provided a self-test for the individual to try before going into the exercises. Overall the book has great insights on strength training for seniors and it gives the option of exercising with and without the use of specific equipment. Following this guide, for only ten minutes a day, for eight weeks can help older people restore (or maintain) strength, energy, and Stamina? Sign me up! I don't know anyone who is so busy they can't find ten minutes in a day to improve their health and fitness. Again honestly, the time commitment I imagined it would require to stay flexible and in shape is why I never tried. How many times have you heard, or you yourself said, 'I don't have the time?' #1 excuse...obliterated. I liked that there were pictures to go with the descriptions, and there were ways to train that didn't cost money or require equipment. I took off one star because the beginning was heavy on academic content about the muscular system, etc. I appreciated the information, and it was easy to understand, but I was ready to get right into some action steps. It gives you facts and myths but also explains the reasoning behind certain movements. Explaining with pictures I might add about the muscular system, and I had both my parents to take the self-test for the individual to try before going into the exercises.
