The suspense was sustained at a tense level through the climactic scene, and the characters and their situation were clearly and believably written. The storytelling is not. : The author borrowed Norse mythology names, Beauty and the Beast elements, and a talking squirrel to create a mishmash of elements that does not make for a successful story. It reads fast because the perspective constantly jumps, no one has any significant story, and the characters and plot lack depth, making the final resolution more confusing than satisfying.
